Me compré un BlackBerry robado April 26th, 2008 by Guerry

Glenn Beck On Mexico; Goes One-On-One With The Mexican from Vietnam

By AmericasNewsToday.Org staff

Glenn Beck’s Partial Transcript, Friday, January 25, 2008:
Subject: Mexico’s Hypocrisy; the Mexican from Vietnam

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BECK: … Brace yourselves for this next story. It`s almost too shocking to believe. We even had trouble finding a guest on this to talk about it, because the story is getting such little attention. It`s almost unknown by most Arizona lawmakers, and it`s happening in Arizona.

Arizona, the border state, passed a new law that took effect January 1. It punishes employers who knowingly hire immigrants who are here illegally, don`t have valid legal documents to work here in the United States. Amen, hallelujah. How long have we been asking for it?

Well, it`s a great law. I really like it. But apparently, not everybody does. Nine people from Mexico, legislators from Mexico, they traveled to Arizona this week to protest our law, saying that it will have a devastating effect on Mexico. The reality is, the second-largest revenue stream for the nation of Mexico is money sent home by Mexicans living and working here in the United States.

These officials also made the point their country just cannot handle the demand for housing and jobs and schools that it will face if all the illegal Mexican workers are forced to return home.

The chirping of the crickets August 15th, 2007 by Guerry

Mexico

The bizarre Mexican political system
By Rami Schwartz | La Palabra.com | 2005-03-28

It’s impossible to understand Mexico without understanding the chirping of the crickets. Chirping is a synonym of politics and not solely in the government, there are crickets in the corporations, schools, church, army, etc. Everywhere there is power to be contested or a decision to be made, there are crickets singing, hoping their chirping changes the course of the events favoring them. Therefore, Mexican politics can be best defined as the chirping of the crickets.

I can imagine the difficulty that the pragmatic American mentality must have understanding chirping or even worse, trying to figure out how an entire country based on chirping can function. Without being a psychologist or a sociologist, I will attempt to explain what chirping means and how it affects the country.

Despite the fact that chirping is such an important part of the every day life of Mexicans, very little has been written about it and there are no scientific studies that can help us understand the psychological and cultural aspects behind this particular Cosmo vision. That’s why I decided to ask many journalist friends, supposed experts in political matters, to define to me the term “grilla”, which literally translates into English as “chirping”.

Border Patrol July 29th, 2007 by Guerry
